1971 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 2+2 Coupe
Auction ended
This Jaguar E-Type V12 2 + 2 Coupe has a very special history: it was delivered new in 1971 to the British Embassy in Havana, Cuba! Since there was no importer in Cuba, the extradition was made via the American importer Britih Leyland in New York. In 1989 the E-type arrived in the Netherlands.
The Jaguar E-type or XK-E was first introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961. In April 1961 it was introduced in America. Due to its spectacular design and excellent performance, the E-type quickly became a popular sports car and the E-types became a sales hit, partly due to the favorable pricing. When Enzo Ferrari first saw the E-type he said it was the most beautiful car in the world. A huge compliment from him.
The first E-types had a 3.8 liter 6 cylinder engine and these were soon followed by a 4.2 liter making the car even faster and smoother. In 1971 the last version came onto the market, the Series 3. This type3 with the new V12 engine, improved brakes and standard power steering was built from 1971 to 1974 and is definitely the best driving E-type of all models. Only 7297 coupes were built in the 3-year production period, making it one of the least built E-types, especially since Jaguar had increased the price enormously.
This Series 3 V12 came to the Netherlands in 1989 at the age of 28 and bought it in 2004 by a real Jaguar fanatic who kept and pampered the E-type until 2020, for no less than 26 years. Due to its origin from dry Cuba, this car has always remained largely rust-free. The jaguar has been completely restored. Of these, approximately 340 photos are available which are digitally supplied. In addition, a binder with invoices and documentation available and this is of course also supplied with the car. The total restoration costs were more than € 60,000. After the restoration, the E-Type has hardly been used. The car has all around Vredestein Sprint tires in size 215/70/15 with a tread depth of about 7.5 mm. The current owner (private person) took over the car about a year ago directly from the owner, but due to his age had to say goodbye to his car with pain in his heart.
This Jaguar has always been used only in the summer and has always been stored in a dry heated garage. The car is damaged and rust-free and is technically and optically in very good condition. The color combination of the glossy black exterior with the red leather interior is truly eye-catching. Both the outside of the car and the interior are in very good condition! This car is also in good technical condition. The Jaguar is equipped with the popular 4-speed manual gearbox. In addition, this E-Type has chrome wire wheels and air conditioning. The steering wheel is an original Moto-lita wooden steering wheel which was placed as an accessory during or after the first delivery of the E-Type.
The car is matching numbers as evidenced by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate which comes with the car and is included in the photo gallery. The owner notes that there is minor damage to the leather on the back seat (can be easily repaired and that the air conditioning must be filled. The Jaguar has a Dutch registration and can therefore easily be provided with a registration in all other European countries. The car comes from a private collector and is offered as it is without any warranty.
