The Ford Mustang is one of the iconic models of the American car brand Ford. The Mustangs name comes from the American fighter plane Mustang P-51 and was coined by the man responsible at Ford for the styling of the first Ford Mustang: John Najjar.
The first Mustang came off the production line on April 17, 1964. The Mustang was an immediate sales success, partly due to its attractive base price of only US $ 2368, - in 1964. Its sporty appearance was also greatly appreciated. The Mustang also sold relatively well in the Netherlands in the 1960s until the 1973 oil crisis caused sales of these types of cars worldwide to collapse. The Mustangs were assembled for the European markets from 1965 to 1967 in the Dutch Ford factory in Amsterdam. The Mustang model is still produced by Ford and is still a very popular car in America. The current Mustang model is an electric car. The Mustang has played an important role in countless TV movies. The most famous movie is probably the movie Bullit in which Steve McQueen plays the lead role together with a fastback version of the Mustang. This famous chase through the streets of San Francisco really put the Mustang on the map as a super sporty car!
This Ford Mustang Cabriolet is one of the first model, the so-called 66 model which was made from 1964 to 1967. This convertible was built in 1966 at the Ford factory in San Jose in California. In 2014 the car received a new electric harnas made by a specialist where only the cabling was changed and the connectors (including the brass) where kept original. In 2017 at a mileage of 64360 the engine was replaced by a 1988 revised 302 ci engine and the cooling system was upgraded with an aluminimum High preformace radiator high performance radiator. Also in 2019 the ball joints have been replaced. It is factory equipped with a 289 cubic inches V8 engine with an automatic gearbox. According to the manufacturers specification, this 289 cubic inches (4.7 liter) 8 cylinder has an output of 200 hp, which was of course very respectable at the time. The torque of these V8 engines is also famous. In addition, they are known for being fairly trouble-free and easy to repair.
This car is finished in green with a white interior and a white soft top aswell as the persenning. In this color, the Mustang is really a beauty to see, a real eye-catcher! The Mustang has been restored and is optically and technically in very good condition, both outside and in the interior, but also in the trunk and under the bonnet. This Mustang has the optional GT-style wheels and the sought after long console in the interior. Relatively recently, the battery was also renewed. The ms tires are from the Maxxis brand all around, in size 195/75/14 are mounted in 2017 and still have high profile. The convertible roof also looks very good but has a small mark due to clamping. ( see the pictures). The steering wheel is replaced by a new wooden one in original Mustang-style and looks very nice. The Mustang has a Class1 alarm with a certificate which was renewed two weeks ago.
The current owner is a private person, has the car since 2009. The car is registered in the Netherlands and is exempt for the Dutch APK Keuring. The car is in top condition and needs nothing and is ready to go anywhere. This car is sold as-is, i.e. without warranty.
